Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Smriti Sthal

Odyssey was awarded the Design & Build project for Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Smriti Sthal at Varanasi through a design competition, wherein many companies submitted their design proposals. The project was inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendera Modi on February 16, 2020. In a time-bound contract of 70 days, Odyssey procured the raw material of, carved and installed 350 tonnes of stones which included: 6000 Square Feet of 100mm thick elaborately carved sandstone. 900 Square Feet of 50mm thick double sided lattice. 14 pillars cladded with 30mm thick carved sandstone. 60 Running Feet of 150mm thick coping. This is besides the civil and all the finishing work, which was needed for the base work and the handover of the project. After thorough research on the life and ideology of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay, the visual interpretation was documented on natural stone using different forms of artwork like engraving, embossing, insert, inlay and hand carving. Different materials like limestone, sandstone, granite, ceramic, brass amongst others, were used for the elaborate murals. Our design team interpreted the different facets of Pandit ji’s life, depicting his famous quotes and a timeline of his life. The theory of “Integral Humanism”, conceptualized by him, is the central theme of the entire mural and its subtle interpretation is all pervasive in the mural.
